![]() ![]() Gaal equipment wears very slow but it is expensive to upkeep. Maloq equipment is cheap to upkeep but it wears very fast. ![]() Their wear and tear is highly dependent on their make origin, of course. However, with heavier items and better item grade, they become more expensive to not only upgrade to begin with, they are extremely expensive to upkeep. ![]() Heavier engines get their speed upped more, heavier fuel tanks get their reserve maximum topped off at higher margins than those with lighter tanks, bigger upgraded radars let you see more, bigger upgraded scanners pierce shields better to inspect equipment, heavier upgraded droids repair more hull damage per turn, heavier grippers can grip heavier items (although at the final tier, you never need to pick up items more than 500 units anyway, the largest drop i've ever gotten was a 212 turbogravitron with massive damage and range), and so on. The better the equipment grade, the better the margins are in statistic upgrade. ![]() Hyperspace cluster loot violate this principle as I've looted 20 unit weight grade-H wave blasters and I've completely annihilated the mid-game because of it. a G-grade industrial laser does more damage than an A-grade on principle, but it is almost always heavier. High equipment grades influence the damage min-max margin of gun hardpoints for your ship. Higher equipment grades are ALWAYS heavier than similar equipment with lower grades. Non-weapon gear looted from hyperspace can never have equipment grades and as a result, while they can be upgraded, cannot be outfitted with most micromodules as their make origin isn't tagged with any of the five factions. The further you are in the game as per the technological advancement the more often that you get certain loot with high equipment grades. A heavier weighted piece of equipment will typically have a higher equipment grade than that of the same piece of equipment with lower weight.Įquipment grade is split into letter grades. ![]()
